Dedication:

Suzanne

To Suzanne,
Who was kind, joyful, loving, and so courageous.

Acknowledgments:

First and foremost, I thank my stepdaughter for her emotional and generous financial support. I would have abandoned the project many times without her help. Her husband has also been very kind.

I am deeply grateful for the patience of my daughter, who has put up with my isolation in the years that this project has consumed my time.

I am indebted to my late uncle, who provided most of the funds to keep a roof over my head in my cabin in the mountains.

I thank, in memory, my sisters, three of whom passed away while this work was in progress, and my brother for their emotional and financial support. I thank my nephew, who (as did his mom) flew across the country to care for me after I went through a major surgery.

My two dear Hollywood friends visited me in the hospital after my surgery and received either the treat or the abuse of an overview of the entire story. I thank them for their friendship and their kindness, caring, and patience.

My local hiking friend has been more valuable in helping me maintain my sanity, or hide the lack thereof, through the last couple of years of this project than he might realize.

Regretfully, I have no editors to thank. I would have far preferred to have the help and support of a good human editor and a good proofreader, but my budget for such valuable services was zero. I did the rewriting, editing, and proofreading alone. Surely, this would have been a better work with professional editing help.

If I am omitting someone, I offer sincere apologies. Memory fades. Please contact me if you feel that you deserve credit.
